20.05.2004 Il "Gruppo Proprietà Intellettuale" di Attac-Italia esprime disapprovazione per la votazione dei ministri europei sulla "Brevettabilità delle invenzioni a mezzo di elaboratori elettronici". Il consiglio dei Ministri Europei ha approvato il 18 maggio la direttiva sulla brevettabilità del software stile USA, in sfregio al Parlamento Europeo che aveva votato ed approvato il 24 settembre 1993 una direttiva completamente opposta ma rispettosa degli interessi europei. Come ha votato l'Italia? Sebbene il ministro Stanca abbia dimostrato opposizione alla direttiva l' Italia si è astenuta permettendo, pilatescamente, l'approvazione della direttiva.

To the dismay and anger of many in the open source/free software movement, a meeting of the European Union Competitiveness Council in Brussels won approval this week for a new draft, which must now go before the directly elected European Parliament later this year. The draft relates to EU's relentless march toward software patenting.

Knjiga Globalni gradjani donosi najvaznije rezultate empirijske studije korisnika Interneta u Srbiji, koju je istrazivacki tim CePIT-a sproveo tokom 2003. godine, kao i temeljan uvod u koncept, teoriju i istrazivanje informacionog drustva.
Na promociji ce govoriti Nenad Golcevski i Goran Milovanovic, urednici CePITa, koji ce ukratko predstaviti neke od najvaznijih rezultata dobijenih u ovoj obimnoj studiji.

08.05.2004 La Free Software Foundation Europe invita nei giorni 10-17 maggio a partecipare ad azioni di protesta contro la normativa, in procinto di votazione al Parlamento Europeo, che intende introdurre brevetti per i software; l'Associazione Software Libero presenta emendamenti al Decreto Urbani per salvaguardare il software libero. E mentre inizia a Roma il Forum della Pubblica Amministrazione (Forum PA), le associazioni per il software libero ribadiscono che la Direttiva del ministro Stanca "delude le aspettative" e fa dipendere la scelta del software negli enti pubblici da "criteri puramente economicistici".

02.05.2004 Yesterday, April 29, the first workshop of the Trans_European Picnic was held in Novi Sad, in the facilities of kuda.org.

The workshop was led by Guy van Belle, from the Amsterdam based organization Waag Society, organization which works in the field of use of streaming and internet technologies in art forms, primarily in performing arts and music, but also in the field of visual arts.

OneWorld SEE talked to Guy van Belle about the workshop.
