11.06.2004 Il Consiglio dei ministri dell'Unione Europea ha ribaltato il rifiuto del Parlamento europeo ai brevetti software in Europa. Nella riunione del 17 e 18 maggio scorso, il Consiglio europeo dei ministri sulle Competitività, a Bruxelles, ha rigettato gli emendamenti che il Parlamento europeo aveva apportato all'originale direttiva. Questa avrebbe introdotto in Europa una legislazione sui brevetti software simile a quella in vigore negli Stati Uniti e in Giappone, sulla quale la Federal Trade Commission Statunitense ha già espresso critiche e riserve.
