01.06.2004 Smart cards and fingerprints in place of conventional personal identification numbers and magnetic cards will soon be used by people in rural India. The idea is to enable villagers to carry out electronic cash transactions using automatic teller machine (ATM) called Gramteller. A leading Indian bank will set up these machines in information kiosks all over the country.
