La Free Software Foundation Europe invita nei giorni 10-17 maggio a partecipare ad azioni di protesta contro la normativa, in procinto di votazione al Parlamento Europeo, che intende introdurre brevetti per i software; l'Associazione Software Libero presenta emendamenti al Decreto Urbani per salvaguardare il software libero. E mentre inizia a Roma il Forum della Pubblica Amministrazione (Forum PA), le associazioni per il software libero ribadiscono che la Direttiva del ministro Stanca "delude le aspettative" e fa dipendere la scelta del software negli enti pubblici da "criteri puramente economicistici".
