OneWorld South Asia announces vacancies for knowledge management professionals

OneWorld South Asia (OWSA) is a civil society organisation working with a mission of “Voicing the voiceless”. It has adopted the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as its guiding framework.

Its operational strategy includes the strategic positioning of ICTs for advocating for inclusive and pro-poor ICT policy. With a view to expanding its services, OWSA is aiming at establishing a new programme area on Knowledge for Development (K4D). For this purpose, applications for Programme Manager (1 post) and Knowledge Coordinators (7 posts) are invited.

Post: Programme Manger, Knowledge for Development

ToR for K4D Programme Manger
  • To manage and co-ordinate the K4D function on various thematic issues around the MDGs
  • In close consultation with the other programme managers, identify the most important knowledge resources that need to be built/created/improved upon by OWSA to help in achieving the MDGs

Work closely with the following programme area:
  • Communication for Development (C4D) to ensure knowledge outputs and dissemination of these through various channels (both online and offline)
  • Research & Analysis (R & A); and Policy Advocacy (PA) to strengthen OWSA’s research & advocacy efforts
  • Grassroots Communication to amplify the grassroots voices
  • To strategically position the K4D programme area within the OWSA’s activities
  • Identify and pursue target K4D drivers in achieving the OWSA’s mission of voicing the voiceless and achieving the MDGs
  • To predict and measure the impact of knowledge-management in achieving the MDGs. This has to be done on the basis of regular assessments and planning to enable improvements in the K4D activities of OWSA
  • To build a process model of knowledge management and its application in achieving the MDGs


Qualifications
Essential
  • Post Graduate Degree with over 10 years of work experience in knowledge management, with at least 5 years work experience in a civil society environment
  • Experience of knowledge management for NGOs/government agencies/CSOs

Desirable
  • Awareness of KM perspectives, processes and enabling tools and techniques to apply in achieving MDGs
  • Capability to understand the role of knowledge in achieving development goals

i. Knowledge Coordinator PHL- Poverty (P) & Hunger (H), Livelihoods (L)(including Micro-enterprise development)
ii. Knowledge Coordinator PE - Primary Education (PE)
iii. Knowledge Coordinator Gender
iv. Knowledge Coordinator Health (including HIV/AIDS, TB , Malaria & other community diseases)
v. Knowledge Coordinator ENRM - Environment (E) & Natural Resources Management (NRM)
vi. Knowledge Coordinator Governance
vii. Knowledge Coordinator TMSP- Trade (T) & Multi-stakeholder Partnerships (MSP)

ToR for Knowledge Coordinators
  • To research and analyse in specific domain area
  • To facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue on specific agreed themes falling within a particular domain
  • To work towards building Communities of Practice (CoP) in the specific domain
  • To develop output mechanisms feeding into all programme areas of OWSA (such as research-based papers/reports, advocacy and communication material etc.)
  • To edit the domain related sections of OWSA portal relevant, in close coordination with C4D team
  • To develop and maintain databases of organisations/groups/individuals in specific domain areas

Qualifications
Essential
  • Post Graduate Degree in a discipline related to the above mentioned domains with over 5 years of work experience in knowledge management, with at least 3 years work experience in a civil society environment
  • Proven experience in skills required for knowledge sharing, coordination, facilitation

Desirable
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Commitment to work for the poor and marginalised
