Rwandan President upbeat about making schools online by 2017

Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, has reiterated the role ICT can play in accelerating the socio-economic development in a recent interview. The recent Accra preparatory regional summit has provided the Rwandan government an opportunity to review its ICT policies.

This East African country has already started deploying wireless and fibre optic based broadband infrastructure. The government also plans to connect all secondary schools to internet within next 12 years.

To effectively promote the concept of participatory justice system in communities, Rwanada is relying on cheap solar power radios. Though community radio is yet to set up; radio stations in eight disctricts have been established.
