Registration for .in domain is growing steadily, as the latest figure from the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) shows. With the opening of unrestricted real time domain registration facility on February 16, 60,000 domain names have been registered.
Mr. Amitabah Singhal, acting CEO, NIXI predicted that in the next six months the registration could touch almost 0.2 million. Seventeen firms have already been accredited as .in registrars, while 250 firms have submitted expression of interest to be registrars.
This new facility has reduced both the cost and complexity of domain name registration.
