Canada launches free online atlas

Royal Canadian Geographical Society’s Canadian Atlas Online is said to be a groundbreaking Internet achievement that brings cartography to life with exciting graphics and animation. The site offers 16 different themes in four categories to navigate through the maps.

Using four categories - The Land, The Regions, The People and The Issues – the interactive maps contain in-depth information as well as interactive and rich-media presentations on Canada’s environment, history, society and economy.

Fully bilingual, the map can be used as a learning module for teachers across the country. The Learning Center has designed lesson plans categorized by province and by grade level (middle school – grades 6 to 8, and secondary school – grades 9 to 12).
