Volunteering opportunities overseas

You might not think that your skills are likely to be in great demand when it comes to changing the world. Think again. VSO has a growing need for experienced professionals with skills in areas such as change management, business /staff development and strategic planning, fundraising, community
and social work, natural resource management to help strengthen organizations in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Volunteering overseas with VSO is one practical way that you can take action to tackle poverty and injustice throughout the developing world. By sharing your management, finance and fundraising skills to build capacity in countries such as Nepal, Namibia, Mongolia and Tanzania, you can also develop your own career. Living and working alongside local communities and
in partnership with local organizations, you will put your experience in change management, strategic planning, financial management and fundraising to good use. Key tasks might include creating management systems, developing
the skills of local staff or devising strategies for income generation. You will be working with limited resources and need to garner the support of a wide range of stakeholders. So your higher order management skills will have every opportunity to grow.

You will get a free return air ticket, free accommodation and a modest, but comfortable living allowance. But most valuable of all is your chance to forge new friendships, discover hidden talents and gain a unique view of the local community... an experience you will never forget

But before you apply, make an honest assessment of your suitability to volunteer:

Would you enjoy spending a full two years overseas?
Are you the kind of person who thrives in an unfamiliar environment?
Are you looking for a challenge where you will gain as much as you give?
Could you live on a modest income?
Are you flexible and someone who values human relationships?
