DARE is a joint initiative by all the Dutch universities, the National Library of the Netherlands, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).
A total of 47,000 digital documents from 16 institutions is being made available online through this 2m DARE project. The fully searchable database stores multimedia content.
Dutch commercial publishing houses are discontent with this new development. Apparntly, DAREnet has became a landmark in the open access inititatives.
