United States Unveils its Plan of Earth Observation Systems
The United States has released its Strategic Plan for the US Integrated Earth Observation System.
In February 2005, fifty-five countries endorsed a 10-year plan to develop and implement to achieve comprehensive, coordinated and sustained observations of the Earth system, the the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS).
The Integrated Earth Observation System (IEOS) is the US contribution to GEOSS. GEOSS will link existing satellites, buoys, weather stations and other observing instruments around the globe.
