In its 61st Commission Session, UNESCAP has passed a landmark decision to establish the first regional Training Centre for Information and Communications Technology (APCICT) for Development in the Republic of Korea.
Korea has pledged to fund worth US$10 million for setting up APCICT, expected to open in 2006.
The Centre will help in capacity building of the ESCAP member countries through training programmes in the use of information and communications technology (ICT).
