A new programme is launched in Bangladesh to promote Information and Communication Technology education and skill building in rural areas. The overall focus of the programme is on empowerment of marginalised rural communities and generating livelihoods opportunities for disadvantaged youth by providing access to ICTs and skill building.
Microsoft has launched this project in Bangladesh under its worldwide Unlimited Potential (UP) Program in partnership with LEARN Foundation and is its first project in Bangladesh under the UP program. Microsoft aims to support community ICT training to more than 2,000 disadvantaged youth every year and facilitate information access at the grassroots-level.
LEARN Foundation was established in 1997 and has imparted ICT training to more than 3,000 rural students over the last several years, providing employment opportunities to underserved communities in remote villages in Sunamganj and Sylhet.
