Schools to become ICT centres in the U.K.

The British Government plans to provide communities with
access to ICT facilities under a new multi-million pound scheme through schools.

Access to ICT will be provided with the after hours extended services by all secondary schools by 2010. Adults and others within the community will benefit from the these extended facilities within schools being made.To take this forward,
the Government has allocated funding which would allow a third of special schools and a half of primary schools to provide the core extended services by 2008.

The Department for Education and Skills also said that it wanted all extended schools to promote national helplines and websites to signpost parents to advice and support services.
