The government will soon issue an ordinance to provide dual citizenship to People of Indian Origin (PIOs), remarked Jagdish Tytler, the Oversees Indian Affairs Minister at an interactive session with the Forum of Financial Writers.
The government intends to do this by issuing electronic emigration card (smart card), which will contain all the information about the worker regarding his nature of work. Incase of a problem, information processed from the smart card will protect the worker from various agents, emigration staff and other employers.
