African Information Society Initiative announces Media Awards 2005

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and its partners as a part of Society Outreach and Communication Programme have announced the 2005 AISI Media Awards. These awards were introduced to encourage individual journalists and mediainstitutions for a more informed coverage of the information society and ICT development issue in Africa. Through these awards, ECA hopes to create greater awareness on the role of ICT's in the development process which would sharpen people's skills and knowledge base within the framework of the African Information Society Initiative(AISI). These AISI media awards aim to be an annual event to honour media institutions.The applications for the AISI award for the year 2005 will be accepted till the 31st July 2005.
