Adding a new dimension to its educational regime, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started French language classes for the first time in India. Lessons prepared by Radio Canada International (RCI) would be aired for 15 minutes on weekdays on the Gyanvani channel which is an educational channel of IGNOU.
According to Station Manager (Gyanwani) K K Srivastava, Gyanvani and the Radio Canada International have entered a MoU under which (RCI) have prepared the lessons in French.
the lesson are made in an audio format and efforts will be made to spread the language programme in cities like Allahabad and Varanasi.
The target group is students, tourism industry and the business class, as these are the groups that require knowledge of foreign languages.
According to A. Tripathi, anchor with Gyanvani we conduct a feedback programme every Saturday in the presence of an expert, where people call us and intimate us of their reactions towards the programmes.
