Online healthcare network in Chandigarh, India

The Punjab Governor and Administrator of UnionTerritory (UT), Chandigarh, S.F. Rodrigues, called for developing an "IT based online strong Healthcare Network" for a judicious use of resources and establish a strong partnership with the community.

Presiding over a meeting with senior officers of the Chandigarh administration,General Rodrigues called for technological connectivity between super-specialty hospitals, remote hospitals and panchayats in rural areas.

He suggested creating a data bank through `Electronic Medical Records' of the rural population, and directed the Health Department to conduct a village-wise analysis of children health needs and prepare a health status summary.

He also directed that special buses should run twice in a week from the U.T. villages to the major hospitals to transport the patients on a set schedule. Efficient ambulance services should also be made available for emergencies.
