E-grama centres opened in Karnataka

The Chief Executive Officer of the Davangere Zilla Panchayat, Karnataka, Jitendra Naik, has called upon e-grama centres to provide information about the ongoing programmes of the Union and State governments to villagers so that they can avail themselves of the schemes.

Distributing loans to rural educated unemployed youth to set up e-grama centres, Mr. Naik said that through e-grama centres, vital information about agriculture and related subjects could be disseminated among farmers in an effective way. He noted that e-grama has become a powerful medium to educate farmers about various subjects.

He urged farmers to be enterprising and said there are many agriculture-related fields to earn good income. Farmers can use Kisan Samadhan cards distributed by the bank for productive purposes.

Farmers can use bank loans to draw money, based on their eligibility, and the bank will charge interest ranging from 8 per cent to 10 per cent depending on the amount of loan taken.

The bank will also provide loans to more rural unemployed youth to set up e-grama centres in rural places.
