Sri Lankan government strsses on media unity on common national issues

Deputy Minister of Information and Media Dilan Perera of Sri Lanka stressed the need for all sections of the media to work in unison at least in matters concerning common national issues.

He said the media should take steps to resolve crises rather than trying to aggravate them on caste, creed, political or other grounds. He hoped to effect significant changes in the media sector soon to facilitate this.

He also stressed the need for the state and private media to get together and broadcast/publish a common program at least once a week to enhance the public-private partnership.
