First NEPAD e-school launched in Kamuli district of Uganda,Africa

HP Invent and NEPAD e-Africa Commission have launched the first NEPAD e-school at Bugulumbya Secondary School in Kamuli district.

HP first announced the launch plans for Bugulumbya e-school in June 2005 at the World Economic Forum Africa Summit in Cape Town. This was followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between HP, NEPAD e-school Commission and the Uganda Government.

The programme aims to transform all African secondary schools into e-schools within five years of implementation and all primary schools with in 10 years of implementation. More than 600,000 schools across the continent will enjoy the benefits of ICT and connectivity to the NEPAD e-schools network upon completion of the project.
