Mr John Waweru, the Director General of the Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK), said the Government was committed to reforms and initiatives in the Information, Communication and Telecommunication (ICT) sector.
At a workshop, he spoke on wireless and satellite technologies policies and regulations in Nairobi and declared that Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service sector will get a new policy framework in two weeks time in Africa.
VoIP is a method for making telephone calls over the internet that has been accredited which will drastically reduce international calls costs. The aim, he said, is to open up marginalised areas to the benefits of information and communication technologies(ICT) and foster balanced development in all corners of the country.
Waweru said the new policy framework would offer concessions to companies intending to invest in rural areas.
