The World Summit Award
(WSA)
recognises and celebrates the spirit of content creation
and creativity using digital media globally. Launched in conjunction
with the World
Summit on the Information Society (WSIS),
the Award
is being given annually to the best e-content and expression of
creativity that
helps bridging the digital divide.
To highlight the e-content produced by
young people globally, WSA has now brought the World Youth Summit Award
(WYSA)
in partnership with the WSIS Youth
Caucus. Young
people under the age of 27 are eligible to participate in the WYSA
competition,
which accepts submission of projects that uses ICT a portal, a
design, a
music production, for instance.

|
The first global youth for youth
initiative that aims to promote the best practices in e-content and
technological creativity to showcase young people's contributions in
creating
digital bridges. By showcasing youth-led content creation to the world,
WYSA
seeks to contribute on a global scale towards reducing poverty,
protecting the
environment, sharing knowledge and empowering marginalized young people. |
Awardees are selected on three broad
categories:

best online platform for youth-centred around issues of poverty
reduction, environmental sustainability, social justice, health or peace
- Creativity and Culture:
Celebrates the most innovative online platform highlighting young
peoples potential for producing creative content, promoting
multilingualism, creating new contemporary forms of culture and
preserving indigenous knowledge and/or traditional culture
- Community Engagement:
Showcases the most engaging online platform facilitating young peoples
participation in global, national or local decision-making processes
and sharing news/ideas to empower youth and build community
An international
jury of expert judges the
submissions and two finalists are selected for the WYSA for each
category. WYSA
projects will then be showcased to the heads of states, business
leaders and
civil society at the World Summit Youth Award Gala on November 16,
2005, and
