Mission for Kerala Development and Poverty Alleviation announced

Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy has announced the formation of Mission for Kerala Development and Poverty Alleviation and five task forces to implement the 10 proposals made by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in his address to the Assembly and three proposals added to that by the Chief Minister.

Mr. Chandy said that the task forces would deal with knowledge development, education and research; knowledge products, knowledge industry and knowledge services; agriculture, agro/food products and fishing; tourism and smart waterways and poverty alleviation, traditional industries and disadvantaged groups.

The Chief Minister also said that that the President's proposals would be discussed at various levels towards implementing them. Great opportunities had emerged for the development of the State.

He said that the Global Investor's Meet was a turning point for Kerala. It created the perception that Kerala was investor friendly. "True that some of the projects were lost owing to controversies."

At the end of the discussion, the House passed a motion, thanking the President for the developmental strategy outlined by him.
