The Vice-Chancellor of NTR Health University,Hyderabad, R. Sambasiva Rao, said that a digital library consortium, connecting all affiliated colleges and enabling access to a large number of books and journals would be launched in a few weeks.
Inaugurating the annual academic conference of the State unit of the Indian Medical Association(IMA), he said that the consortium would provide e-learning material to students.
Stating that lack of proper training to teachers was a problem, Prof. Rao said the university had established a teachers' training centre for conducting workshops every quarter. It was also streamlining the admission process to medical courses.
He hoped IMA's "Aao Gaon Chale" programme would bridge the gap between medical facilities in rural and urban centres.
Former IMA national president, R. Jayachandra Reddy, said the association had asked its 1,500 branches to adopt a village each under the `Aao Gaon Chale' programme for providing medical services to rural people.
