banglore traffic police is get simputers

The silicon valley of India, has high traffic and increasing day by day. To tackle this situation, traffic police in Bangalore is given 30 simputers – simple, inexpensive, multilingual and hand-held computers. The police are now planning to introduce 200 more simputers by the end the year.

The number of cases registered in June this year was 67,168. For July, the number touched 95,208. “In August, we have registered nearly 1,00,000 cases,” M A Saleem, Deputy Commissioner of Police said.

The collection of penalty, which was Rs 6.11 lakh in June this year, leapt to Rs 9.81 in July and Rs 9 lakh in August. In the last eight months, the penalty collected has totalled up to Rs 11.6 crore, as against Rs 12 crore in 2004.
