e-Learning project to be lauched in the UAE

The drudging routine of learning is set to change for school children with Etisalat all set to launch a unique educational web site that promises to convert learning into a fun activity in the UAE.

In line with the e-revolution engulfing the knowledge sector, E-Company, the business unit of Etisalat, would be offering digital educational content for students on its bilingual e-learning portal http://schools.learnonline.ae/ that will be launched early October.

"The rich multimedia-based content, provided and managed by the interactive Arabic web site Menhaj, will facilitate understanding of concepts through meaningful illustrations, thereby helping students save significant time and effort.

The lessons would be delivered in a macromedia flash format with users being presented a list of lessons according to grade, subject, age and curriculum. At the moment, the content is in line with the UAE curriculum and covers subjects such as maths, Arabic language and science for grades one to six.

Internet users can register themselves for Online learning by logging on to the web site, and subscribe to the course material by browsing the catalogue that is categorised into age, subject and grade.

On the company's initiative to popularise the e-learning portal, Ms Maha said they were planning to hold roadshows at schools and organise meetings with school managements in addition to availing of the Etisalat services like sending text messages and e-mails.
