Information technology: Key to knowledge economy of UAE

Information Technology is vital to a knowledge economy, and it is the cornerstone of many of the world’s major developed countries, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education and Chancellor of the UAE University opines.

In his inaugural address to the Second International Conference on Innovations 2005 (IIT 05) in IT, Shaikh Nayhan said: “It is appropriate that the theme of this year’s conference is focused on the advance of Information Technology and I hope that the region will invest heavily in this endeavour.”

Shaikh Nahyan said the conference was about leadership that would be required to assure wise, effective and innovative use and application of technological progress.

Ghazi Attallah, Cisco Vice President, said: “IIT ’05 is considered a major regional conference and is making it's mark internationally as evidenced by the number of prominent international scientific journals that are covering the conference.”
