Bangalore based ngo to host meeting on Right to Information

The Central Right to Information Act 2005 was passed by the
parliament this year and subsequently GoI has gazetted the act.The act will be fully enforced by the 12th Oct 2005.

There is a major effort initiated by the Govt and various depts,

with the citizens and facilitating the actual implementation.
All the Central Government Ministries and the Union territory
administration and the State Governments come under the purview of the act with some exceptions (act copy enclosed).

The Central and the state Govts have to prepare rules for
implementing this act. The Karnataka Govt. has already drafted
these rules and they have drawn tremendous criticism from various individuals, NGOs and groups.

We will be distributing the RTIA 2005 at the meeting. The
citizens demand for information created by using this act has the potential to enhance the transparency in GoI. and GoK

The objective of the meeting is as follows:

To create awareness about the central RTI act 2005
To suggest and discuss steps to operationalise the act
To initiate steps to create the demand from citizens for specific
