'MyCircle' SouthAfrican social networking website

Four South Africans have set up a social networking website to connect South Africans from all over the world. The group, one in South Africa, one based in the US and two in Canada, worked together with a programming team that spans four continents over a period of six months to develop the site, MyCircle.

The site went live in July and has 1 200 registered members.
“We provide a platform for a virtual South African community, which means that while you live in Australia there is no reason that you can't still be a part of your South African community,” says one of the four, US-based Jason Griffiths.

US-based Jason Griffiths explains that users create their own profiles, upload and share their own pictures, engage in real-time text conversations using a DigiChat peer-to-peer chat system.
