The participating journalists at a face-to-face programme have pointed out the need for the media sector of Nepal to be loyal to the nation, nationality and the monarchy.
Speaking at the face-to-face programme organised by the Media Group Nepal, the journalists stated that there is a need of nationalistic journalism in the country while expressing concern over the trend of Mission Journalism which is undermining the established basic tenets of the media sector.
Stating that the foreign investment and dominion in the media sector is an unfortunate matter for the country, the journalists expressed the view that the media sector could play significant role in the establishment of peace, conflict management and taking initiative for national unity in the country.
The media sector is dominated by the party-centric journalism, lacking accountability and being used as the political weapon in the country, they opined.
