With a view to provide basic computer knowledge to all middle school students, the state government of Mizoram in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) has launched Information Technology (IT) drive by setting up computer training centres in the north-east region of India.

''Our basic idea is to provide practicle knowledge about computers to all the students in the middle school level'', SSA project o-ordinator Robert opined.

''We have already setup 35 computer centres in Aizawl, where as many as 189 middle school students would be benefited from it,'' he added.

Each centre has been provided with ten computers,in all the middle schools and teachers will be trained to provide basic knowledge about the computer operations to the students apart from their IT syllabus.

The SSA had also established 14 such computer centres in Lunglei, four in Mamit and three in Saiha districts of the state, he pointed out, saying all the centres will be located in nearby the schools.
