National e-governance plan for India to be in place soon

Moving a step forward to implement the National e-Governance Programme (NeGP) throughout the country, minister of communications and IT, Dayanidhi Maran said the full NeGP plan would soon be placed before the Union Cabinet for its approval.

“Department of information technology first rolled outstate network entailing an investment of about Rs. 3,300 crore. We are now placing the NeGP before the Union Cabinet for approval of the implementation framework,” Mr Maran added.

Out of total six lakh, villages in India, one lakh will be targetted in the first phase.
