Kerala government decides on the fees for RTI Act

The Cabinet has fixed the fees payable for obtaining information under the Central Right to Information Act from Government departments and agencies.

The application fee will be Rs.10 per request.

Every standard page of information will be charged at the rate of Rs.2. For larger pages, the actual cost will be collected. Actual costs will apply for samples and models too.

There will be no fee for the perusal of information for an hour. For additional time, Rs.10 will be charged for every half an hour or part thereof.

Information made available on floppy diskettes and compact discs (CDROM) will be charged at Rs.50 per floppy or disc. No fee will be charged from people living below the poverty line.

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Chandy said, has nominated Finance Minister Vakkom Purushothaman to the committee for selecting Chief State Information Commissioners and two State Information Commissioners.
