The "Uzbekistan Development Gateway (UzDG)" component of the Centre for economic research in cooperation with Gender unit of the UNDP CO in the Republic of Uzbekistan developed the first edition of the "Gender equality in Uzbekistan" www.gendergateway.uz web-sites information e-newsletter. The thematic focus of this information product is economic aspects of Gender.
Thematic focus of the first edition is "Gender and Economy ". Economic aspects of gender inequality, as well as other kinds and forms of inequality, can make worse the quality of the human capital, non-uniform distribution of incomes hence to increase level of poverty, decrease rates of social and economic development and efficiency of economic system in general.
The information product was developed in order to raise awareness of the governmental structures, experts in socio-economic and political spheres, NGOs and public at wide on the actual for Uzbekistan gender issues, as well as to promote principles of gender equality in elaboration and implementation of development strategies.
Every issue of the information bulletin will be focused on the certain theme and reflect linkages between gender and various spheres of socio-economic and political development: education, politics, environment, etc.
The information bulletin is distributed free of charge both in electronic and printed versions.
