e-Connectivity for krishi vigyan kendras in India

Around 200 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the country are likely to go online this year, and have e-connectivity with all relevant agri research institutes.

An allocation of Rs 380 million has been sanctioned for the purpose.KVKs are district-level centres set up for transfer of farm technology to farmers under a scheme administered by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

So far KVKs have been set up in 492 out of 588 rural districts.

With a view to review the functioning of KVKs and for getting necessary feedback for its revamp as per local needs, a two-day national conference of all stakeholders have been convened from October 27.

The union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar will preside over all the sessions.
