For the first time, the Railway Recruitment Board of India has conducted an on-line examination for selection of candidates for the post of "Section Engineer/Electrical."
In all, 165 eligible candidates took the examination in two batches .The candidates were given 15 minutes to familiarise themselves with the examination system. After that they were able to access the question paper and click the correct option, thereby registering their answers.
According to Priamvada Viswanathan, Member Secretary, RRB, on-line examinations ensured transparency in the selection process. There would be total confidentiality as the question paper was set just minutes before an examination. It eliminated risks in transportation of the paper as well hitches, common during the conduct of such examination.
The results would be available immediately. But the candidates would be informed only after some time as the selection list had to be ratified by the Railway Board.
The Board had plans to conduct more such examinations in future.
