In 2002, with the intention of finding ways of harnessing the potential benefits that information and communication technologies (ICT) offer in terms of increasing the reach and quality of education, UNESCO launched the Asia-Pacific ICT in Education Programme. ]
The programme aims to empower learners, teachers, educators, managers and leaders to use ICT judiciously for expanding learning opportunities and ensuring educational quality and relevance. At the same time, the programme aims to facilitate wider access for people of the Asia-Pacific region to locally-relevant forms of ICT.
The publication,Technologies for Education: Achievements and Future Initiatives in the Asia-Pacific Region, describes the key achievements so far of the ICT in Education programme, and presents the initiatives that are planned for implementation over the next few years. The publication also discusses our current partnerships, as well as how interested groups and organisations can become involved and share in this programmes activities and achievements.
