Information technology education in Chhattisgarh is living up to the ideal of social justice. Elected representatives from the panch to the Chief Minister and government personnel from the peon to the chief secretary, all are learning infotech lessons.
However, the State's ruling class seems to have leant the bitter lesson from Chandrababu Naidu's debacle in the last Andhra Pradesh elections, despite his powerful image of being the man behind the transformation of Hyderabad into cyberabad and is mindful of not limiting it to only Raipur but extending it to the entire State.
In Chhattisgarh, information technology is being taken to even remote areas as part of a capacity-building programme for people. The think tank, responsible for the IT capacity-building programme, believes that all people from the grassroots to the ruling brass need to be trained in computer and infotech.
"We want them to work not only on Windows and Excel, also sensitise them to the vast potential of computers," said Aman Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Chhattisgarh Info-tech Promotion Society.
So far, 4,000 persons, including political executives, ministers, chairpersons, government officials and employees have been imparted basic training.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, along with some cabinet colleagues, had earlier this year attended a two-day training programme in Hyderabad on smart Government.
