The real power of the Right to Information Act rests with the people, Information and Public Relations director K.C. Venu has said.
Addressing a seminar on `Media and Right to Information Act' organised by the Department of Public Relations, Kesari Memorial Journalists Trust and the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club here on Monday, Mr. Venu said that this was perhaps the most important right given to the public other than the fundamental rights.
Other participants of the seminar felt that the Act would have far-reaching consequences. But there should be a will to implement the Act. The former Vice-Chancellor of Kerala University J.V. Vilanilam described the Act as a progressive step.
