Andhra Pradesh Press Academy to digitise old dailies

The Andhra Pradesh Press Academy (APPA) is planning to digitalise old dailies soon.

Chairman of APPA, Devulapalli Amar, said that they have already made micro films of 16 lakh pages of different magazines, published autobiographies of giants in journalism and also going to publish some more books on those who rendered valuable services to journalism in English dailies also.

He said that the proposal to digitalise newspapers was with the Government and hoped that at any time the Government would give its nod for the programme.

Mr. Amar said that his academy had conducted many workshops to sharpen the professional skills of urban as well as the rural scribes and taught basics in computer education. He said that the APPA had made CDs of 25 senior most journalists and their experience and kept those videos in their library.

Mr. Amar also said that they had requested the Government to keep APPA publications in all libraries in the State.
