Information kiosks set up in five districts of karnataka

Villagers in Kundagol taluk, need not go to the taluk headquarters to get a copy of their "Record of Rights" (Pahani) pertaining to their lands. They can get it at their village or from a nearby village.

Deputy Commissioner M.S. Srikar said that Kundagol taluk in Dharwad district has become the third taluk in Karnataka for having kiosks at the village level for providing copies of Record of Rights (Pahani).

Taken up under the "Bhoomi" project, this novel project is an outcome of private-public partnership initiative. N logue Services, a Chennai-based firm, will be investing the money and will be looking after the maintenance of the kiosk, he said.

People will be saving time and money required for travelling to the taluk centre. The forms will be provided to the kiosk operator by the Government at Rs. 15 each. The remaining Rs. 10, which the firm gets, is for the maintenance of the kiosk, Mr. Srikar said.

The Deputy Commissioner said that these kiosks will provide an opportunity for the unemployed youth in the villages to earn their livelihood.

Mr. Srikar said Kundagol taluk has been selected for implementing the "Rural digitalisation service", which was started for the first time in the State in Mandya. The project is meant for computerising most of the services provided at the taluk office, he said.
