The Centre has so far released Rs 100 crore as assistance to Andhra Pradesh government towards relief and rehabilitation measures in the wake of heavy rains and floods in September this year, the state Legislative Assembly was informed on Friday.
Apart from cash assistance from the National Calamity Contingency Fund, the Union government had also released two lakh tonnes of rice, worth Rs 200 crore, the state Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao told G Kishan Reddy during Question Hour.
A second installment of 1.50 lakh tonnes of rice, worth Rs 150 crore, was expected soon, he said.
The state government had sought financial assistance of Rs 2,470.37 crore and 12.74 lakh tonnes of rice from the Centre.
