Beyond the River Sharing Benefits and Responsibilities is the theme of the 2006 World Water Week in Stockholm, which takes place August 20-26, 2006, and will address livelihood improvement, land-based activities within a river basin, and societys ability to cope with natural disasters, among other aspects.
Abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 2006 World Water Week in Stockholm are being sought now and are welcome until February 1, 2006.
Specifically, abstracts are being accepted for presentation at the following workshops and seminar:

* Workshop 6 Changing Diets and their Implications for Water, Land and Livelihoods
* Workshop 7 Sharing the Benefits of Ecosystem Services and the Costs of Ecosystem Degradation
* Workshop 8 Large Lakes as Drivers for Regional Development
* Workshop 9 Safe Water Storage and Regulation During Floods and Droughts
* Workshop 10 Extreme Events and Sustainable Water and Sanitation Services
* Young Water Professionals Seminar Co-Management of Water for Livelihoods and Ecosystems

The World Water Week in Stockholm
The World Water Week in Stockholm is the leading annual global meeting place for capacity-building, partnership-building and follow-up on the implementation of international processes and programmes in water and development. It includes topical plenary sessions and panel debates, scientific workshops, independently organised seminars and side events, exhibitions and festive prize ceremonies honouring excellence in the water field.
