Human agencies for knowledge connection: A macro-overview of institutions in rural India

In this paper, the author shows social, cultural, political and economic diversity of rural India and the need for appropriating the ICT interventions according to such diversifications.

Structure and functionings of majority of ICT-based interventions, however, depend upon the economic conditions of the rural areas. The political decentralized structure of India and complex interactions among the government departments also influence the governance and structure of the local knowledge gateways. The paper thus recommends to carefully analyse the respective roles and responsibilities of the human agencies operating in rural India in the knowledge revolution.
