Indian city of Tiruchi extends e-governance system

Residents of Tiruchi Corporation can now pay their underground drainage service charges under the online tax collection system through the computerised service centres of the Corporation or at over 20 select bank branches where the system is operational. Similarly, professional tax can also be paid through the system. The Corporation will soon launch a new facility under the online tax collection system wherein taxpayers can remit their dues through credit cards. The facility, likely to be introduced in the first week of January, will initially be available at the computerised service centre at the Corporation Main Office. The upgraded site www.trichycitycorporation.com also has several new features such as application downloads, file/application tracking and online grievance registration. Applications for various services including issue of birth and death certificates, land development, trade licences can now be downloaded from the site. The technical upgradation of the site would make it more dynamic with enhanced data storage capacity, Corporation officials said. Read more
