'Gyanwani' radio station to launch 600 educational programmes in Bhopal, India

The Bhopal FM radio station 'Gyanwani' of IGNOU will soon launch an intensive series of 600 educational programmes related to higher secondary, graduation courses and general knowledge. The under-graduate students of BA, BCom, BSc along with the higher secondary students of science and commerce would benefited from the series of educational programmes. The Station Manager of Gyanwani, Shiv Kumar Awasthi told The Pioneer that an expert committee comprising leading academicians of the town, has been formed to improvise the quality of programmes being broadcast over Gyanwani. Some of the prominent members of the committee include AS Minocha, Prof Purushottam Bhatt, Principal of Nutan Girls College Shashi Rai and Regional Director of IGNOU, KS Tiwari. The committee in its meeting to be held on January 02 will forward its suggestions as well as recommendations. Right now, the Bhopal Station of Gyanwani has a total broadcast time of 10.5 hours, which also includes filler programmes of classical music and others that are not in accordance with the principal objective of the channel. But since the station does not have sufficient amount of relevant software in its library, it has no choice but to broadcast them. To overcome this problem, the station intends to produce the afore-mentioned programmes, said Mr Awasthi. Notably, in Madhya Pradesh the Gyanwani FM stations are operational in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur.
