Sanctioning an additional Rs 49 crore to Kerala under Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana, Union Minister for Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh promised "every help" in implementing rural development schemes in the state.
Addressing a press conference after a review meeting of the centrally sponsored rural development schemes in the state, Singh said, under the PGSY, Kerala's share was Rs 125 crore and a Rs 143.67 crore proposal also has been cleared by the Ministry. Stating that all the implementation of programmes in the state has been satisfactory, he said Kerala was using the funds properly and utilising the resources effectively.
The central allocation for the rural development during 2005-6 was Rs 280.46 crore and a hike of 17 per cent was made last year, he pointed out. Under the 'Swajaladharan scheme', Rs 7.85 crore was also allocated to the state, he said. The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would be launched in two districts of Wayanad and Palakkad on February 2, he added.
