Approved in principle by the Prime Minister, the Finance Ministry has created a list of information and communication technology (ICT) products of Vietnam and a roadmap to abolish tariffs on these products in the 2008-2010 period, according to the International Co-operation Department under the Finance Ministry.
Vietnam's list of ICT products is expected to include 325 items, mainly including computers, printers, telephones, cameras, discs and tape.
Under the roadmap, taxes will be abolished on 228 ICT products by 2008, 25 others by 2009 and the remaining 72 products by 2010.
This year, taxes the tax rate levied on these products under the CEPT/AFTA is five percent. Conditions for the implementation of preferential tariffs under the roadmap have been created in accordance with the commitment to ASEAN, said the International Co-operation Department.
