Malaysians above the age of 17 are invited to take part in the first Creative Commons Malaysia Competition organised by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC).
MDC vice-president Ng Wan Peng said the objective of the competition is to encourage the use of creative materials available on the Creative Commons website to produce new and original creative works.
Entries submitted must build upon existing works available at the Creative Commons website (creativecommons.org/find), MDC said in a statement last week.
Participants must identify the Creative Commons work they use and attribute each work to the original author.
They must also comply with the requirements stated under the respective licenses.
There are three categories for the competition music, motion pictures and art.
The winners of each category will win RM10,000 for the first prize; RM5,000 for the second prize; and RM3,000 for the third prize.
Winners will also be featured on the Creative Commons web portal and their work will be showcased at the official launch of Creative Commons Malaysia in March.
